Asaiah’s Story

Sweet, little Asaiah was only two years old when his mom, Nicole heard the devastating news. Asaiah was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.  Just when Nicole was dreaming about her son’s future, she was told that he would not live past the age of 18.

The Muscular Dystrophy Clinic at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is nationally recognized for leading research and clinical care for patients with any of the muscular dystrophy types. Supported in part by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and an NIH-funded Paul D. Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Cooperative Research Center, we provide the highest level of comprehensive care to patients from across the country.

“Nationwide Children’s Hospital means hope for my son, my family, and anyone else suffering from this debilitating disease,” says Nicole. “I’ve watched Asaiah grow up and become more of a young man than I could have ever dreamed of. He’s a part of the National Junior Honor Society, National Beta Club, Robotics Team, and he’s in the Robotics STEM 4-year program at the high school he attends. He’s defied the odds, and doing a pretty good job at it.”
