Brionna’s Story

Brionna’s Epilepsy symptoms started when she was only 6 months old. She has multiple seizure types.  Brionna has been fighting a very tough battle not only because of the seizures but also because of the medications she has been on to try to control them. But Brionna is a strong and spunky little girl – a real super hero.

Comprehensive pediatric epilepsy care requires unique specialists, leading technology and a multidisciplinary team. At the Epilepsy Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, we take it to the highest level. That’s why the National Association of Epilepsy Centers has accredited us as a level-four epilepsy program—the highest level of epilepsy care.  In addition to standard services, we provide complex neurodiagnostic monitoring as well as neuropsychological and psychosocial evaluation and treatment. Our level-four designation also means offering advanced epilepsy surgery services, including evaluation with intracranial electrodes.

“Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a place where our family felt many emotions. With each emotion, staff was there to help us with those emotions. Fear, anger, sadness – each member of the team were there by our side: doctors, nurses, therapists, clergy, child life specialists and even the housekeeping staff were there to help us and talk to us.  They genuinely felt in their heart a love for our daughter,” says Brionna’s mom, Elizabeth.

Brionna loves watching Frozen and My Little Pony. She also loves to be outside camping with her family. And when she grows up, Brionna plans to be a veterinarian.

Brionna is really excited about being a Patient Champion for the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. She used to go golfing with her grandmother and is a big fan of golf carts.
