CHD Journey

At 20 weeks gestation Noah was Diagnosed with having a hole in his heart and malrotation (organs on opposite side). Then at birth, after ultrasounds and sedated MRIs, it was confirmed Noah has seven heart defects: Double outlet right ventricle, arterial septal defect, total anomonary pulmonary Venus return,l eft and right vena cava and two others. Along with those it was discovered Noah has congenital malrotation (Twisting of the intestines). With that it is unclear if his spleen is functioning or not. At nine days old Noah went in for a banding of his TAPVR then five months later he went in for his second open heart surgery called the Bi Directional Glen Shunt. For both he was hospitalized for two to three weeks. Prior to his second surgery he contracted rhinovirus and was hospitalized for three whole months fighting off the virus before his surgery. After his second operation Noah came home on a feeding tube (NG tube)for two months with a feeding pump. Now Noah goes to work with me with a year free from the tube and runs around and plays. He acts like any other one year old but is on Amoxicillin for his immune system and Propanol (Beta blocker) for his tachycardia (fast heart rate).
