Lance’s Story

Lance started basketball later than most. He is a soccer goalie and was a previous swimmer but with his height and quick hands he quickly caught on. Right before X-mas 2015, he ran into a fellow player running down the court during a game and fell forward rolling his ankle. He limped off the court and iced his foot and insisted he was fine. The next day he was still in significant pain after school so we took him to Dublin Children’s. Our good friend and nurse, Andrea Amurgis, checked him in and the negative showed he broke his ankle. He was devastated! Dr. Tom Pommering was able to view his X-ray and he was placed in an air cast and had regular return visits. Once cleared, he was able to do all of his physical therapy with Kate Weale at the Grandview Heights Wellness Center. Kate gave him instructions for more exercises to complete at home and checked in with me on a regular basis. Within 6 weeks, he was back as a starter on the court and was able to win the District Championship. I can not praise Children’s Staff enough! Everyone was professional, friendly and caring and got him back to doing what he loves best!
