Luke’s Story

Luke was born on March 22, 2016. After a very long and traumatic delivery, Luke was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for injuries on his head.

As first time parent’s we were so scared for our new baby and had no idea what we were in for. We were met by some of the kindest doctors, who quickly examined our son. Over the course of our time at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, we had the best nurses care for Luke. The nurses in the NICU helped with learning how to breastfeed and were always an encouragement. If not for those nurses, we would not have been success with breastfeeding.

Luke underwent many tests and was given many different medication during his stay to prevent infection in his brain. We were so frightened as new parents to see our new baby have to go through all of this. Each staff member from the hospital that we went was so kind and made us feel so much better.

We still to this day talk about our time at Nationwide Hospital and how thankful we were to have such wonderful people take care of our son.
Today, Luke is a very happy and healthy one and a half year old, with no long-term brain damage. We will forever be thankful for the wonderful care he received at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
