Mr. Miracle

On December 29th,2016 at my 21 week check up we found out our little boy had HLHS. I never even heard of it. We then got sent to OSU for a double check. While we were there, we found out our son had heterotaxy as well. I had never heard of either disease till that week. After several fetal echo’s every month the Drs gave us 5-10% chance our little boy would make it during birth. On May 1st, I went to OSU to deliver my precious baby boy. I was scared, nervous and just didn’t want to deliver him as I knew he was safest in my belly. After 26 hours and a close call for c-section, my baby boy was here. We heard his cry right away – something we never thought we would hear. After 2 weeks of growing to become stronger for his own heart surgery. On May 16th Josiah had his first open heart. After surgery his surgeon said we are lucky he is here with us. Your little boys heart is one of the most complex heart we have seen in some time. Little Josiah is asplenic, his stomach is on the wrong side, his liver is midline as well as his heart. I’m so blessed Nationwide Children’s never gave up on my little boy. His 2 brothers and 2 sisters adore him. I thank the Lord everyday for our precious miracle. Thank you, single ventricle team for never giving up on Josiah.
