I was born June 17, 1980. I wasn’t diagnosed with my heart defects until I was 3 days old. Dr. Josepha Craenen was my first cardiologist that started my treatment at Children’s. I had to wait until I was 8 years old to have my first Open Heart Surgery performed by Dr. James Kilman. I knew later on in life I might have to have another surgery due to Pulmonary Valve Regurgitation. At the age of 30, I was moved from the Pediatric side of the Heart Clinic to the ACHD Clinic with Dr. Curt Daniels. In 2012 I started experiencing arrhythmias and started seeing Dr. Sharon Roble. This past November, I found out that I was due to have my second Open Heart Surgery to replace my Pulmonary Valve. The surgery was performed December 22, 2015 by Dr. Patrick McConnell who was able to repair my valve instead of replacing it and the change in my energy levels and daily life still amaze me almost 3 months later. I am grateful for Nationwide Children’s and their Pediatric and Adult CHD teams and all they have done for me in the last 35 years.
