Hi my name is Serenity. I was born at 24 weeks and 2 days. I had a rough start in this world. When they took me out of my mommy belly I wasn’t breathing. I scared everyone! With the good Lord’s help and the doctor from Nationwide Children’s, I survived. They didn’t get to weigh me cause I was really small. My estimated weigh was 1lb 2oz and about 10in long. I could fit in my daddy’s hands just right. I didn’t get to see my mommy until I was 4 days old. But my daddy and my aunt came up to see me the next morning. It broke my mommy heart not to come. During the helicopter ride I pulled my ventilator tube out. I am a fighter.
I was diagnosed with a grade 4 bleed on the left side of my head and a grade 2 on the right. And shortly after that I was diagnosed with BPD. It took me a little while to get off the ventilator but I did it. It was a blessing to see my parents. My parents were with me every step of the way. I was almost 3 months old and had to have surgery to have a VP shunt put in. The hydrocephalus was getting worse no where for the fluid to go. After the surgery I did a lot better; I started eating with a bottle and had the feeding tube taken out.
I went home at 4 months old. At 5 months old, I almost died on my mommy and daddy. My daddy is my hero, he saved my life. Now I’m going on 19 months old and doing really well. 2 months ago, I finally got taken off oxygen. And still had to have a couple more surgery since leaving the hospital but doing really well now. I’ll kept updating with my new progress thinks for reading my story!
