Kyleigh’s Story

Kyleigh was born with Congenital Heart Defect. She was just 11 months old when she had her first and only surgery.  Indiana Doctors told us the hole would close up on it’s own not to worry. And as a first time parent, it’s hard not to worry.

We are so Thankful for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We took the news hard when they told us she would need surgery. As any parent you don’t want to see your only child go through surgery. Her surgery date was set for June 12 of 2012. The most heartbreaking moment was when we walked her back to the OR and the Doctor took her out of our arms. I just wanted to fall to the floor and cry. The nurses at Nationwide Children’s reassured us that everything was gonna be fine.

After surgery was over she was in the NICU for a day and moved to a recovery room the next day. We are so blessed on how fast her recovery was. She got to go home after only 5 days in the hospital. She is our little miracle. Because Of God and Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s  team of surgeons, our little Kyleigh recovered so fast from surgery. She is doing great. She is a healthy little 6 year old who loves to dance, sing. play with dolls, makes A’s and B’s in school and enjoys making her little brother and little sister laugh. She loves to help cook and she loves going to church. We are so thankful for the Cardiology specialist at Nationwide Children’s and also the surgeons and nurses who helped us through everything we went through.
